FORESTRY AND FOREST MANAGEMENT ON THE FIR MOUNTAIN PROPERTY

Approximately two thirds of the property is covered with stands of timber of varying age,
species type and composition. Over the last nine years, the owner, a forester, has successfully
worked to plant and restore old clearcuts, improve the stocking quality and density of the stands
of commercial saw timber, greatly reduce the fire hazards along the property boundaries and
improve the wetlands and wildlife habitat across the ownership. The excellent results are gratifying.

Click the Photographs button to see some of the different areas of the property’s forests
and some pictures of this past year’s tree planting activities.

The Documents button will lead you to a two-part discussion by the owner of his forest
management objectives and techniques, and a formal report by Atterbury Consultants
of Beaverton, Oregon on the results of a timber cruise of the property in 1999.
